Is it multiple guitars and amps? Is it a quality instrument straight to a good amp? Is it stringing together 15 pedals? What difference does a good tube amp make? Discuss the virtues of different approaches. How does technique effect the quality of your tone. Ask questions and make suggestions. Help each other on this important topic.

I use a Gibson Les Paul with a Roland GK-2A pickup to send signals to a Roland GR-33 Guitar Synthesizer. I also send a guitar only signal out of the GR-33 to a Johnson Millennium JM-150 modeling amplifier. For mixing the sound I have the guitar channel from the Johnson on the left channel and the GR-33 channel on the right as I/O to the Mackie 1202 VLZ mixer and then to the computer for studio work, or to the PA for live. This produces any sound I could ask for and by mixing the 2 channels I often get a 'double instrument' sound. For example, the Johnson could be set up for a Steve Vai or Zappa-esque guitar sound while the GR-33 is set for a fingered or fretless bass patch for interesting 'duet' effects.
